In inference to potato growing and marketing, I note that the Minister ior Marketing (Mr Barclay) says growers anticipate MARKETING OF a maximum acre POTATOES age to be put down, and no doubt bumper crops. In the event of the failure of such crops, does he in tend to recompense the said growers for their effort at the expense of noncontractors who may be more successful? Further, does he intend to dictate to the people from whom and where they shall buy potatoes? Does this not mean farming by dictation, the very thing our boys are fighting against?
It is interesting to read that on February 12, 1850, at Wellington, the Settlers’ Constitutional Association passed a resolution protesting against Sir George Grey and the Home Government trying to dictate how tills and other colonies should be run, I think it is time something was done in the same direction. —C. F. FLYGER.
