Advertisement Resented
t'P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Objection to an advertisement published in a'Wellington newspaper was taken by the Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) when the House of Representatives met yesterday. He said that the advertisement, which dealt with the expenses of the Washington Legation, purported to be inserted on behalf of the official National candidate for Wellington Central (Mr. Will Appleton) and it contained statements which, in his opinion, amounted to misrepresentation. After contradicting various items quoted in the advertisement Mr. Fraser said he was of opinion that no responsible person or party would circulate such statements, which could not fail to do harm to what was the most important mission this country had undertaken. If it had cost hundreds of thousands of pounds instead of thousands we would have been amply repaid. He asked if the Leader of the Opposition would take steps to correct (he statement or withdraw it. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr. Holland) said that this was the first occasion on which he, had heard of the advertisement. So fai' as he knew,,* it was not an official statement. He- would have the 'matter looked into.
