Many have been writing about rehabilitation of servicemen. Mr Briscoe Moore is the only one who has been worthwhile, SOLDIERS AND and yet he missed THE LAND what I have been looking for. Everylone talks of settling the soldiers on i the land and guarding them against i being taken down. To avoid all that i I reckon the Government can and ! should give the land free (and help, |as well) out of the enormous quantity lof Crown land available. Within | half an-hour of Whangarei there are ! thousands of acres already main-road-led. From here to Pandora every | soldier requiring land could be seti tied and more. Why leave all this; I land to grow gorse and weeds and buy; | land already paying taxes? Settle all the Crown land first, and ease the; jtaxes on the poor cookie. —R. HOLLAND. i

I recently visited the Makogai Leper Station, and when I saw with my own eyes the splendid work that New Zealand's sympathy MAKOGAI has done there. I LEPER STATION felt proud to be a New Zealander. One of the patients, in referring to our gifts, said: “It is just these things that make out lives bearable and worth living.’’ The sufferers made a special request that we would not forget them! this Christmas. We have now formed an incorporated body to continue this annual collection, and we appeal to all. young | and old, rich and poor, to help us. j Gifts of cash or goods may be sent I to me at 172 Bealey Avenue. Christ-; | church, and all donations will be acj knowledged by me personally.

A leaflet giving further particulars, or a copy of our audited balance sheet, will be gladly sent on request. With heartfelt thanks for past help and trusting once again in the public's generosity.—P. J. TWOMEY. Secretary, Lepers' Trust Board.
