I The Minister for Supply (Mr. Sullijvart) stated today that he bad received iparticulars of the cost of living increases jin retail ' figures from the High .Commissioner (Mr. Jordan). These confirmed the ‘claim that New Zealand headed the list : for the lowest increase in the cost of liviing during the war. and emphasised the iefiiciencv and effectiveness-of price con* Urol and economic stabilisation policies j which have been enforced since the beginning of the war. Mr. Jordan’s message stated that the British Ministry of t Labour "Gazette” publishes the followling cost of living percentage increases i since 1939: New Zealand, 13.4; Canada, 116.7; Australia. 22.4; United States, 22.6; South Africa. 23.5; United Kingdom. 29; Sweden. 42; Eire, 59; Portugal. 59.6; India I (Bombay), 95.2.'
