Woman Or Camp?
“When I meet you fellows I feel more like asking about Maadi than making a speech,” said Major-General A. ,S. Wildei when speaking at I lie luncheon tendered to returned servicemen by the Whangarei Borough Council today. Later the Mayor (Mr W. Jones) created amusement among the servicemen when he asked: “What is this Maadi? Is it a woman?” He was assured by General Wilder that his interests lay in Maadi Camp in Egypt. “Where there are no women,” a voice added in a tone of regret.
