Waikato Farmers Impress Willkie
HAMILTON. Thursday. A very favourable impression of the Waikato was gained by Colonel Robert T. Willkie, a member of the United States Joint Purchasing Board in New Zealand, alter a tour of the district. Colonel Willkie described the Waikato winter grass as the most beautiful he had seen. He said he had come from Kentucky, where the famous blue pastures were, and he knew what he was talking about. ColGnel Willkie added that he was impressed by the way in which the Waikato farmers concentrated on one line of production, instead of going in for mixed farming as was done in America, although, he thought the system savoured of putting all one's eggs in one basket.
