Bay Power Board Reduces Charges
At the last meeting of the Bay of Islands Electric Power Board it was resolved to make some reductions in charges for power, commencing from all readings taken from July Ist. Domestic units on the first step usually charged at 7d are now to be 6d. Commercial lighting from 7d to 6d, and all monthly minimum charges in both these •losses to bo 4/-. ” Dairy shed motors are to be charged on a new basis which will result in quite a considerable saving to consumers. Flat rates for cowshed lights previously 1/6 and 1/- per month, are now to be reduced to 1/- and 9d respectively. The special rate to hospitals has also* been reduced, and this will mean a substantial saving to the hospitals concerned. The secretary (Mr. W. S. Thorpe) estimates that the total cost of these reductions will be slightly over £3OOO per annum. 728
