Tory Channel Harpoon Gunner Killed
(P,A,) BLENHEIM, Monday. John Donald Huntley, 31, married, of Picton, a harpoon-gunner of the Tory Channel whaling fleet, died in hospital on Saturday night, as a result of head injuries received in Cook Strait on Friday afternoon. Huntley was firing at the fourth whale of a successful day when a shell-case flew back, striking him on the forehead and fracturing his skull. He was rushed to Picton in a fast whale-chaser.
