Chinese Beat Japs. Back In Three Provinces
(Rec. 1.30 p.m.) CHUNGKING, June 27 The Chinese have beaten back a series of local enemy thrusts in three provinces along the Yangtse-Anhwei, Hupeh and Hunan. A Chinese communique says over 3CO Japanese were killed and wounded. According to Tokio radio, American air squadrons in China have been increased considerably. New American units are concentrating on bases in Fukien province, south China. Japanese military experts anticipate increased American activity in* the Chinese theatre as well as new attempts to attack the Japanese mainland.
