Stranger Than Fiction
SYDNEY, This Day. In an effort to join her husband, a beautiful Frenchwoman and her baby have fallen into Japanese hands. The woman, Mrs Gabrielle. Lyon, and her baby, were evacuated to Australia before the fall of Malaya. For months she had no word of her husband, Captain lan Lyon, of the British army, who was serving in Malaya. Then she received a cable stating that he had escaped into India. * Against advice, Mrs Lyon boarded the ship Nanking to join him. The ship was captured by Japanese in the Indian Ocean. A few weeks later Captain Lyon arrived at Perth looking for his wife and baby.
