N.Z.E.F. Appointments

(P.A.) WELLINGTON. Friday. Appointments and promotions of officers of the Second N.Z.E.F. gazetted last night include the following:— New’ Zealand Infantry.—Captain G. T. Upton to be major; Captain I. H. MacArthur, brigade headquarters, to be major. New Zealand Ordnance Corps.—Captain S. A. Knight to be major. (These officers are serving in the Pacific). New Zealand Infantry—Major J. Conoily to be temporary lieutenant-colonel whilst commanding a battalion; Captain C. D. F. Bowie to be major; Captain (Temp., Major) J. R. J. Connolly to be major; Major (Temp. Lieut.-Colonel) C. M. Bennett, Maori Battalion, to be lieutenantcolonel; Captains E. R. Andrews and G. E. Hartnell to be majors; Major T. B. Morten, southern infantry, to be temporary lieutenant-colonel while commanding a battalion.

New' Zealand Medical Corps.—Colonel P. A. Ardagh to be temporary brigadier and is seconded to G.H.Q., Middle East Force, for duty as deputy-director of medical services' of a corps.

New Zealand Ordnance Corps.—Major J. O. Kelsey to be lieutenant-colonel; Captain H. B. Ward to be major; Lieut.-Colonel S. F. Hartnell, New’ Zealand Armoured Corps, is appointed second in command of a New Zealand armoured brigade; Lieut.Colonel R. T. Smith is appointed to command a New Zealand railway construction and maintenance group. Lieut.-Colonel F. P. Furkert is appointed assist-director of medical services of a New’ Zealand division.
