Luftwaffe Has No Planes To Spare For Britain
(Rec. 1 p.m.) LONDON, April 9. The Luftwaffe is too deeply engaged on various fronts to spare planes for reprisals against Britain, said Major Bley, the Luftwaffe spokesman over Berlin radio. “Our people may ask why we do not take reprisals and how long this is going on? We frankly need the Luftwaffe against the enemy’s armed forces, not against civilians. “Much of our air force is engaged on the Russian front, where we have hundreds of planes flying daily. The enemy has to pay heavily for attacks against residential quarters.”
