Global Organisation Needed For World Peace
WASHINGTON, April 7
“World peace can come onlv through global organisation in which the United States must play a definite part, even to the maintenance of peace by force,” the Assistant Secretary for State (Mr. Sumner Welles) told the Institute of Pacific Relations at a luncheon.
He said: “Pious generalities and phrases are insufficient. We are looking ahead to the realisation of a great Vision of a kind world in which all people can live in peace and security and freedom from fear. This can be achieved onlv if there is some tvpe of practical wbrld 'organisation and the United States acceDtsits full share of responsibility. I do not mean a nominal share, but rather a share in sacrifices and in the maintenance of peace by Icrce.’J .
