WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

The monthly meeting of the Onerahi Womens’ Institute was held on March 3 Mrs McLean presiding. The meeting opened with the National Anthem. As this was the annual meeting the election of officers was the most important business. and results were: President, Mrs McLean: secretary, Mrs Stewart; treasurer, Mrs Brake, all re-elected. The president and reports were then read and were considered very satisfactory. The president thanked the secretary and treasurer for the assistance they had given through the year and presented them with beautiful bouquets of asters. The president was presented with a bouquet of dahlias and thanked for the very able manner in which she had carried out her duties through the year and was also thanked for agreeing to continue as president for another year. The roll call "Ask your left-hand neighbour a question/’ was well responded to. very interesting questions being asked and answered. The monthly competitions were won by Mesdames Hodgson Smith and Wftimp. The trading fable did a brisk business. A very nice afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Going. Smith and Ranscme. The meeting closed with “God Defend New Zealand.”
