U.S. Does Not Seek Permanent Bases In South America
WASHINGTON, March G.
The United States has no intention of establishing permanent western hemisphere military bases affecting in any way territorial sovereignty of any of the Australian republics, said the Assistant Secretary of State (Mr. Sumner Welles) to the Press. He added that it was time the Nazi lie suggesting that the United States was seeking permanent Latin-American footholds was knocked on the head.
