OPUAWHANGA The December meeting was held in Mr Whimp's paddock after which there was a picnic for the school children. Owing to the absence of the president (Mrs Jones), Miss Nancy Weaver, vice-president, presided. The minutes were read and passed. The competition, four sticks of rhubarb, was well responded to. the winners being Mrs Weaver 1, Miss N. Weaver 2. The Institute provided free ice-cream and soft drinks for the children. Games were enjoyed by both young and old. Afternoon tea, which was served by the Institute members, brought an enjoyable afternoon to a close.
