Fortresses Wipe Out Bozen Zeros
WASHINGTON, December 17
A Navv communique states that Navy dive-bombers attacked Japanese, ships and installations in Munda area on December 16. An enemy destroyer or cruiser was hit and damaged. One Dauntless failed to return. A group of army Flying Fortresses was intercepted by 12 land-type enemy Zeros in the vicinity of New Georgia. The entire intercepting force of Zeros were shot down. One Fortress was lost but the crew wese rescued.
