Spy.—Peter Franz Erick Donay, former United States soldier stationed at Governor’s Island, pleaded guilty to espionage, at New York. Donay gathered and transmitted secret information written in invisible ink to Germany, including the army’s secret Basic Manual. Cork Tyres.—According to the Berlin iadio, the Portuguese invention of cork tyres was given a 200-mile test at Lisbon and showed remarkable resilience. The tyres are split-proof. Lindberghs.—A New York message states that a daughter has been born to Colonel and Mrs. Charles Lindbergh. They now have two daughters and two sons living. Hawaiian.—The death is announced from Honolulu of Brigadier-General Albert Lyman, the first United States General of Hawaiian ancestry. Shot. —The Argentine Military Attache (Lieut.-Colonel Camilo Gay) was found in a desolate cave on the outskirts pf Rio de Janeiro shot dead. The police said robbery was not the motive, as money was found on the body.
