Strikers Want Government To Take Over Plant
WASHINGTON. August 13
President Roosevelt has ordered Colonel Frank Knox to take over and operate the striking Bayonne plant. Amid shouts of “Let. the Government lake over,” the strikers at the General Cable Corporation voted to continue the s'rike when told of Chairman Davis’ ultimatum. The strike was called without union sanction because of the War Labour Board's adverse decision on wage increases.
Mr. Davis had said the next move would be to call in Federal troops.
