OBITUARY
The death occurred on Sunday, August 9, of Mrs Constance Edith Tovey, at the Mangonui Hospital. Wife of the late Mr George Tovey, who predeceased her in 1935, she was born 70 years ago in Blenheim. She was the daughter of Mr William Sowman, of Blenheim, who was well-known in the brewery trade in that district. The occupation of brewer was carried on by her family for several generations. For some time she lived at Blenheim and Napier, and for a period at Whangarei with her only son, Mr. R. Tovey. 111-health, however, forced her to reside at. Mangonui, a district in which she enjoyed a happy and peaceful life for many years.
She was a popular and well-known resident of Mangonui and cultivated a wide circle of friends there. Of an active disposition she was engaged on numerous societies, taking an active part in the life of the community. Her four sisters, and four brothers are still alive.
