OBITUARY

Mts. Walter Holster

The death occurred at a Whangarei private hospital today of Mrs. Margaret Holster, wife of Mr. Walter Holster. of Maunu, at the age of 73. Mrs. Holster was the daughte-’ of pioneers of the Mangapai district, where she was born. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. W. Bullions, who were among the earliest settlers at Mangapai, and she was one of a family of four sons and four daughters. Mrs. Holster was educated at Mangapai and 47 years ago married Mr. Holster, proceeding with him to the Houto where she and her husband endured many hardships in breaking-in then virgin country. They remained in the Houto district l'or 33 years before coming to live at Maunu. Mrs. Holster did not take an active part in public affairs, but she was keenly interested in all war work and i endered a great deal of quiet but very effective assistance in this direction.

Especially during her residence in the Houto. Mi’s. Holster’s home was open to all wayfarers and stock drovers who were passing by. She was well-known and loved throughout the district and her death will be widely regretted by a very wide circle of friends. Mrs. Holster is survived by her husband, three daughters, six sons and 34 grandchildren.

The daughters are: Mrs. May Eyes <Whangarei). Mrs. M. Brown (Waiuku). and Mrs. Kathleen Thorpe (Maunu). The sons are: Messrs. W. W. Holster (Houto), Andrew (Mangapehi), John (Waimahia), George (Whangarei). Bob (Poroti) and Dave (Poroti). The funeral (will leave Miller’s Chapel at 3 p.m. on Saturday for Maunu Cemetery.
