Warship Week
Liverpool’s “Warships Week’’ total yesterday reached £8,400,000, with an investment of £1,000,000 by the Blue Funnel Line. Liverpool has taken just four days to reach the original aim of £7,000,000 to meet the cost of the battleship Prince of Wales, which the city had adopted, and has raised sufficient to pay for a sister ship to the Ark Royal.
