Preparations Made For W.W.S.A. Sports Rally
Preparations for the Whangarei W.W.S.A. Keep-Fit Sports Rally are well under way, and it is anticipated that over 300 women will be participating. Entries for the many events have been coming forward in great numbers, and many districts of Northland will be represented. Eighteen teams of girls are to compete in a marching competition for a cup presented by Mrs. A. Clarke. A trophy has been presented for the sprint event by the physical welfare officer (Mr. S. V. Higgins), while a teams’ points cup has been donated by Mr. E. H. Palmer. An acrobatic display by a team of gymnasts from Auckland, a demonstration of sentry marching by instructors from the Kensington Military Camp, a folk dancing display, and a menagerie race, are amongst the many features of the days programme. Perhaps the most important event will be the Keep Fit display and competition for which a trophy has also been presented.
