Amongst those reported wounded and missing after the Crete campaign was George Clotworthy, of Whangarei. and brother of Mrs. E. Newmann, of Three Mile Bush, Kamo. Since the announcement, nothing further was heard of him and fears were entertained for his welfare. However, a long silence has now been broken by a letter written by George from a prison camp in Germany to Mrs. Newman stating that he is not wounded and that he is in good health.
