Record Net Score At Whangarei Golf Closing Day
Probably the best net score that has been returned at the Mt. Denby links was put in by Mr and Mrs Chilman, of Portland, who went round in 65 net, to win the mixed Canadian foursome at the closing day of the Whangarei Golf Club. With 138 players taking part the closing day competition attracted the largest number of competitors to' go round on closing day. The weather conditions and links were all that could be desired. Afternoon tea was served free in the clubhouse, after which the ladies’ president (Miss W. Lamb) presented the ladies’ prizes, and the club president (Dr. H. F. Buckley) presented the prizes won by. the men during the year. The winners of the leacfing events were as follow: Ladies’ senior championship, Miss D. Steele; Junior. Mi’s A. H. Day; Jounneaux Cup, Mrs A. H. Day. Men’s senior championship, W. J. Glanville; intermediate, A. C. Henderson; junior, J. A. MacLeod; Hogan Cup, A. R. Ryder; Mt. Denby fourball, S. J. Weston and L. R. Nelson.
