Bicycle Tourists On Northland Visit
Seeing Northland awheel are Messrs. A. D. Small, of the Press Association staff, and C. R. Moody, National Service Department. Leaving Wellington by train on Friday afternoon they arrived in Whangarei on Saturday afternoon, unpacking the bicycles which are to be their sole means of transport for the rest of the trip. The last two nights were spent at the Whangarei camping ground and today the Wellingtonians set out for Russell. They will travel up the east coast, and. if permitted will visit Spirits’ Bay, returning via the west coast and taking the boat from Dargaville for Helensville. Three weeks have been allotted for the holiday tour. Mr. Small intends preparing articles for overseas papers on Northland, the charm of which has impressed him already. Flowers which have to be nurtured carefully in Wellington, he observes nourish out-of-doors in Whangarei gardens, are much larger and have a sweeter perfume.
