Ensures Ample Ships, Seamen, Says Knox
WASHINGTON, Nov. 14. “The removal of the Neutrality restrictions ensures that both ships and men will be available to deliver war supplies to nations fighting the Axis, and greatly increases the promise of ultimate victory,” said the Secretary for the. Navy (Colonel Knox). He pointed out that the United States was building a huge fleet of merchant ships, and that America was the only country able to supply crews, as Britain was already suffering a shortage of manpower, especially men available for service at sea.
