Kerikeri Home Guard Confined To N.C.Os.
At a meetitng of n.c.os. of the Kerikeri company of the Home Guard on November 11, the following resolution was carried unanimously : "In view of waning interest and poor attendances at parades that have been manifested by the members of the local Home Guard in the past few months, this meeting recommends that, until such time as the military authorities concerned reorganise and place on a sound basis the Home Guard movement throughout the country, all future local parades be confined to n.c.os., such parades lo be held at our headquarters at night only.” Notwithstanding the foregoing recommendation the n.c.os. wish to express full confidence in their present leaders and are fully appreciative of their services, it is stated officially.
Canadian Conservatives. —A former Canadian Prime Minister (Mr. Arthur Meighen) has accepted the leadership of the Conservative Party in Canada. Back to Work. —It is reported from San Diego, California, that the building trades craftsmen who struck for higher wages on eight naval and marine products, have returned to work.
