The Boys’ Brigade Activities Reviewed

1 Some thousands of boys throughout the Dominion are now receiving a training based upon moral and physical well-being, combined with discipline, states the tenth annual report of the New Zealand Dominion council of 1 the Boys’ Brigade. The annual meetings connected with the movement .have just concluded in Christchurch. Despite the difficulties created by the war the brigade in the Dominion has made another big advance in the year reviewed. There are now 145 senior divisions and 76 junior divisions in companies and teams, with a membership of some 75,000. His Excellency the Governor-General has accepted the office of New Zealand patron of the movement. The churches are realising in increasing measure the appeal which the movement has to boys, and the valuable contribution which it can make in providing an all-round training. within the life of the Church, for both Church boys and any other boys who care to fulfil the conditions of j membership. The Archbishop of New j Zealand, the Moderator of the Presby- j terian Church, the president of the j Methodist Church, the chairman of the Congregational Union, the president of the Associated Churches of Christ, and the president of the Baptist Union have all accepted positions as vice-patrons during the year.
