WEDDINGS OF THE WEEK Graham —Webb

At tlie Presbyterian Church, Mangapai, on June 5, the wedding- was solemnised of Pte. Thomson Fleming Grahaih of the Sixth Reinforcement, to Constance Ida, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Webb, Oakleigh. The Rev. E. Way officiated.

The bridegroom, who is the younger son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Graham, Mangapai, was in battle dress. The bride who entered the church with her father wore an old rose pink frock with a neckline of very large beads, a teal blue hat and coat, with shoulder spray of white carnations and asparagus fern, and carried a white prayer book. Mrs. Peter Price attended her sister as matron of honour, and wore a blue frock and hat, and carried a bouquet of autumn tinted Iceland poppies. The bridegroom was attended by his brother Ronald as best man. Mrs. A. Webb, mother of the bride, wore a navy ensemble, and Mrs. W. Graham, mother of the bridegroom, wore a tailored navy coat and skirt, with navy hat and dark furs.

On the evening of June G, Mr. and Mrs. W. Graham entertained close relatives and intimate friends of the newly-weds at their home, "Wheremai,” Mangapai South. At supper the large wedding cake was cut, and the usual toasts honoured and good wishes tendered to the young people.

Foster —Johnston At the Kaitaia Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 14, the Rev. Wilde officiated at the marriage of Gwenyth Pearl, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. ,R. A. Johnston, to William Leslie, second son of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Foster, of Fairburn. The church was decorated with arum lilies and a wedding bell. The bride's frock was of ivory corded taffeta cut on simple lines, with high pointed panels back and front and a square neck line, with a spray of orange blossom and unusual corded hemline. The same effect was carried out round the neck and wrists. An ivroy tulle veil was held in place by a simple headdress of pearl tinted spray and orange blossom which the bride’s mother had worn. She also carried a beautiful bouquet of cream Iceland poppies, roses and asparagus fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Zeldu Johnston, sister of the bride, wore a nil green squared organdie, cut on long lines with V neck and full sleeves and cream mittens. She wore a green stiffened net veil, held in place by bands of silver ribbon and carried a muff of shirred organdie trimmed with violets and rosette silver ribbon. She also wore silver shoes. Mr. Ken Foster, the bridegroom's cousin was best man. The bride’s mother wore a petrel blue costume with matching hat, and bouquet of pink and red rbses. The bridegroom’s mother wore an air force blue frock and black felt hat and carried a bouquet of scarlet gerberas and asparagus fern. A reception was held in the Methodist Church Hall.

Christie—Tennent

An attractive wedding took place in the Anglican Church, Kamo, on May 21, when Marion Isabel, only daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. C. E. Tennent, was -married to Donald Gordon, eldest son of Mrs. and the late Mr. A. Christie. The Rev. J. A. Cole officiated and Mrs. M. Mclnnes presided at the organ.

The church was .artistically decorated by •friends of the bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr. W. H. Lewis. Mr. Allen Christie attended as best man, and Mr. Alex. Rushbrook was groomsman. The bride wore a gown of magnolia angelskin lace over a deeper shade of taffeta to tone with the beautiful veil of Brussels lace loaned by Mrs. H. E. Johnson, of Kiripaka, and draped from a topknot of orange blossoms. She carried an ivory a shower of magnolia and silver ribbons, knotted with orange buds. The two bridesmaids, Miss Ivy Smith, of Pukekohe, and Miss Audrey Crichton, of Fairlie, looked charming in period frocks of stiffened net over taffeta, in applegreen and cyclamen respectively, with bandeaux of net, and flowers to tone. They wore necklets of silver and pearl, gifts of the bridegroom, and carried matching bouquets. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis held a reception at the Kamo hall, where upwards of 300 guests showered their good wishes upon the happy couple. Mr. and Mrs. Christie left by car for Rotorua, the bride wearing a costume in duck-egg blue, with accessories in cinnamon shade and squirrel furs. Mrs. Lewis received in a gown of knifepleated georgette. Mrs Tennent, mother of the bride, wore cyclamen floral georgette. Mrs Christie, mother of the bridegroom, wore black satin, with brown fur coat. They carried autumn-tinted bouquets. Among the guests present at the reception were: —Mesdames R. J.
