War Brevities
Italians for Sydney.—The first batch of 500 Italian prisoners of war captured by the British and Australian forces in Libya has arrived in Sydney for internment at various country camps.
Bread for France.—The Swiss radio says that bread was distributed to the population of unoccupied France after £ the arrival of 13,000 tons of flour sent by the United States Red Cross. Further distributions will be made on the next two Sundays. The milk ration is being increased.
Sunk.—-The Admiralty has announc ed that the yacht Viva 11, which was serving with the Royal Navy, has been sunk.
Resignation.—The Moscow radio, quoting the Stefani news agency, says the Deputy Italian War Minister (Genei'al Bussoni) has resigned afi<3 has been replaced by General Purero.
Seamen.—The Minister for Transport (Mr. Cardin) announced in Ottawa the formation of manning pools, comprising experienced officers and seamen, to fill deficiencies in the crews of merchant ships sailing to Britain. He added that the Government was providing pensions for seamen injured by enemy action, as well as for the relatives of those lost.
