Close Understanding “Before Hell Let Loose”
(Rec. 2 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. “There must be a closer understanding between Australia and the Netherlands Indies before hell is let loose in this part of the world. We have seen what has happened in Eu-r rope because of lack of co-operation.” This statement was made by the Director of the Netherlands East Indies Government Publicity Service (Mr J. H. Ritman), who recently accompanied the Dutch Foreign Minister (Mr van Kleffens) to Australia. _ - He added that such an understanding would have a very great preventative effect, and that his Government will defend its country at all costs.
“We will fight to the last , man, and we will fight regardless of help from other Powers,” he said. ,f We wilt destroy every inch of oil fields, every factory and every store that could" be of any help to the invader.”
