Ulster Seeks Conscription
BELFAST, May 25.
The Prime Minister of Ulster (Mr. J. M. Andrews), accompanied by Lord Glentoran and Mr. John F. Gordon, has arrived in London on a visit made at the request of Mr. Churchill to discuss conscription in Ulster. The “Daily! Telegraph” .say's the Ulster Ministers are Unanimously in favour of conscription. Before Mr. Andrews departed the Unionist Council gave him a free hand. It is officially stated in Dublin that the cabinet and leaders of the opposition have met to consider the application of conscription • to the six counties. Mr. de Valera has summoned the Dail to meet on May 26 to receive a statement ton a matter of urgent public importance. The “Irish Times” states: “We realise the British Government has a strong case, but consider the enforcement of conscription would be a grave mistake.”
