Town Clerk Libelled By Bookmarks

The proprietor of a circulating library at Dovercourt, John Elliott, was alleged at Chelmsford Assizes to have put a libellous bookmarker into every book he passed to his customers. George Frederick Congdon, town clerk of Harwich, was granted an injunction restraining Elliott from repeating publication, and was awarded £IOO damages with costs.
