British Representative With Emir Of Iraq
LONDON, May. 23. The appointment is announced of Mr. Gerald de Gaury as Charge d’Affaires with the Emir Abdul Illah, Regent of Iraq, pending the re-establish-ment of communications with the British Ambassador at Bagdad, says a British Official Wireless message. Mr. de Gaury started his career as a poldi'er and later joined the Royal Air Force. In 1936-37 he was political agent at. Kdweit, and he spent the last few months serving as first secretary in the British Embassy at Teheran, Iran. He is an expert on Arab affairs.
