The appointment is announced of Mr. Gerald de Gaury as Charge d’Affaires with the Emir Abdul Illah, Regent of Iraq, pending the re-establish-ment of communications with the British Ambassador at Bagdad, says a British Official Wireless message. Mr. de Gaury started his career as a poldi'er and later joined the Royal Air Force. In 1936-37 he was political agent at. Kdweit, and he spent the last few months serving as first secretary in the British Embassy at Teheran, Iran. He is an expert on Arab affairs.
