Recruits Wanted For R.N.Z.A.F. Construction Squadron

[Special to “Northern Advocate”] AUCKLAND, This Day A Royal New Zealand Air Force aerodrome construction squadron is at present under formation for overseas service. The unit will consist of three flights and a squadron headquarters, and will consist of 15 commisisoned officers and 132 other ranks, the commanding officer having the rank of squadron-leader. It is stated that the first, or A flight, will be trained as a survey section, B flight as a repair and maintenance section. Applications are being handled by the nearest district engineer of the Public Works Department, who will forward recommendations to the Air Department.

Preference For Over 30

The age group from which men are being selected is 20 to 40 years, but men over 30 will receive prior consideration. Suitable applicants between 40 and 50 will not be excluded if they are of good physique and medically fit for overseas service.

Men wanted include civil and mechanical engineers and draftsmen, mechanics, linesmen, instrument men, transport drivers, clerks, gas and electric welders, blacksmiths, tinsmithplumbers, fitters, tractor and ditcher drivers, tile makers and sawyers. Applications are being considered from eligible men in the armed forces if they have the consent of their commanding officer.
