Syrian French Regiment Joins Free French?
(Rec. 2 p.m.) LONDON, May 22. The Brazzaville radio, in French Equatorial Africa, reported that Free French troops have invaded Syria, and that a regiment of General Dentz’s defence forces is believed to have joined the Free French, says a New York message.
French Promise to Syrians
The British United Press correspondent at Beirut says General Dentz told a Press conference that “France has no aggressive intention against Britain, but will be compelled to oppose force with force. Germany has a provisional right to use Syrian aerodromes under Article XII. of the Franco-German armistice. I assure Syrians that no German interference or occupation will take place in Syria.”
