One of the main features of the Westfield sale yesterday was a general easing in values for sheep. Competition in general was, however, keen and in most lines of stocks late rates were maintained.

Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report : Sheep : Etxra heavy prime wethers, £1 8/- to £1 9/6; heavy, £1 6/6 to £1 7/6; medium, £1 5/ to £1 6/; light, £1 3/ to £1 4/; plain and unfinished, £1 1/ to £1 2/6; extra heavy prime young and maiden ewes, 16/6 to 18/; heavy prime ewes, 15/ to 16/; lighter, 12/6 to 14/6; plain and aged, 9/ to 11/; others 3/ to 8/.

Lambs : Extra heavy prime lambs, 26/6 to 28/6; heavy, ‘ 24/6 to 25/6; medium 22/6 to 23/6; lighter 20/ to 22/; light, 18/ to 19/6; small and plain, 15/ to 17/; culls 5/ to 10/. Calves: Runners, £5 to £8 7/; heavy vealers, £5 to £6 10/; medium, £4 to £4 18/; light, £3 to £3 17/; small, £1 to £2 18/; unfinished and bucket fed, £1 to £1 12/; bobby calves 7/ to 18/. An average yarding of good quality ox beef sold under keen competition and prices compared favourably with last week.
