Negotiations For Peace In Indo-China
(Received 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, .January 22.
The Acting-French Minister at Bangkok (M. Roger Garreau) stated that peace negotiations for a settlement of the border dispute between Thailand and Indo-China were under way.
The Japanese had offered the services of Colonel Tatsuji Koike as mediator.
Japan Desires Peace,
Japan does not favour a prolongation of the war and desires the establishment of peace. A Bangkok High Command communique issued earlier, stated that the Thai forces reached the Mekong River at Kaokung, opposite Pakse, while the Thai Air Force, co-operat-ing with the army, resulted in the occupation of an important position in north Seamrap.
