King And Queen Spend Christmas In Country
LONDON, December 25,
As a brief respite from the almost incessant round of duty, Their Majesties spent Christmas quietly in the country with the Princesses. The usual festivities at Sandringham were cancelled.
It is the first time for 30 years that the Royal Family has not spent Christmas at Sandringham. The Royal Family will be joined during Christmas Day by the Duke and Duchess of Kent with their children, Prince Edward and Princess Alexandra, who will celebrate her fourth birthday during the day. There will be a family teaparty and Christmas tree.
During the holiday a Nativity play will be performed in which Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret* and children in the neighbourhood will take part. - _
