Paparoa
This month’s meeting of the Paparoa Women’s Institute took the form of a musical afternoon, and was much enjoyed by members and a large number of visitors. Mrs. D. Mackay arranged the programme and led the community singing, the solos of the various items being sung by Mesdames G. Dodds, T. Wright and Miss J. Wilson. “Funny” stories by Mrs. E. Aickin and Mrs. R. Fraser tickled the audience, while a poi action song by Miss S. Huani, and “«sesus Loves Me” sung in Tongan by Mrs. W. Dodds, in costume, were enjoyable novelties. Mrs. E. Tibbits played her musical saw, and also gave her report on the recent Federation meeting. Mrs. D. Evans and Mrs. E. Fenwick contributed a pianoforte duet, and Mrs. D. Hay a piano medley. Bouquets were presented to the accompanistes, Mrs Fenwick and Mrs. Mackay, following which afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Miss L. Dodds and Mrs L. Lawrence.
A good assortment of parcels and cash donations was handed in by members to be forwarded to the Makogai lepers for their Chrismas cheer.
