"100 Crowded Years”: Centennial Film
[Special to “Northern Advocate ”J WELLINGTON, This Day.
The official Centennial film, “One Hundred Crowded Years,” was shown to a large audience, including the Governor-General and Prime Minister, today. Produced by the Tourist and Publicity Department, it is an excellent feature.
It effectively suggests most of the outstanding political events from New Zealand’s first settlement to the present day, with many evidences of modern progress.
Remarkable bird studies, and some striking scenic glimpses, give the film a wide appeal. Many Maoris take part in the production, which reaches the highest point of dramatic interest through their co-operation, while the reproduction of native songs is excellent.
The Minister for Publicity stated that the film is being handed to the National Patriotic Fund Board, and will be utilised to assist its funds.
