Patriotic Work At Herekino
A meeting convened by Mr W. Vickers was held at Herekino on Friday evening last with the object of forming a local patriotic committee., Those who attended included some ladies.
Mr C. J. Barriball, chairman of the Patriotic Committee, was present, and outlined the objects of the society. A number of questions were asked, and were answered by Mr C. McKinnon, the secretary. It was unanimously decided that all present form themselves into a : committee, of which Mr C. Bourke was elected chairman, and Mr Alf. Powell secretary and treasurer..: >
A number of . collecting cards were distributed, with a view to. a canvass of the district being made, and a cattle drive was ..mentioned as a good means of raising money.
