Action, Comedy Features On New Plaza Programme

Amusements

Suspense and mounting suspicion are climaxed with gunplay in Paramount’s latest Hopalong Cassidy film, “Hidden Gold,” one of the two features on the new programme which opened at the Plaza Theatre last evening and which will be screened again this evening.

William Boyd, again as Hopalong Cassidy, is called upon to clear a mine owner of suspicion of stealing gold as murder and hold-up continue, but with his pals Lucky (Russell Hayden) and Speedy (Britt Wood) he brings justice by means of fist and gun fights. . The second feature, “Personal Secretary,” is a mystery comedy drama which will delight the amateur sleuths.

The story contains far more than the usual amount of sui*prising twists and in addition a grand but comical love, element rarely discovered in this type of picture. William Gargan and Joy Hodges head the cast which includes Andy Devine, Ruth Connelly and Florence Roberts.
