Past The Blockade
Despite the British blockade, German products have been reaching Brazil by way of Russia and Japan, large parcel post shipments received at Rio de Janeiro recently revealed. By means of railroad shipmenl through Russia and transfer to Japanese steamers in Japan, the goods eluded the blockade. However, most oi the three truckloads of merchandise which arrived was of an expensive nature, the cost of which made ship ment by the parcel post route feasible. The nature of the cargo indicated the Germans have found it impossible to ship heavy goods through the blockade to South America, even via Russia and Japan.
