The Japanese Ministry of Justice has issued a statement saying that investigation has established that Reuter’s manager in the Far East. Mr. Melville Cox. committed suicide. The statement said that his shoes left marks on the windowsill and his body was six metres from the building, from which it was deduced he climbed to the window and then deliberately jumped. Examination of Mr. Cox's documents. it is alleged, disclosed evidence supporting espionage suspicions, since they included records of the number of forces despatched to China, movements of Japanese vessels, the numerical strength of Japanese troops in Manchukuo and records of the number of dead and wounded in the SinoJapanese hostilities.
