Nelson’s Flagship Bombed - Berlin; London Says No

(Received 12.30 p.m.) LONDON. August 15. The Berlin radio alleged that bombers yesterday hit Nelson’s flagship, the Victory, whose flag standard was thrown into the sea. It added that British sailors regard this as a bad omen. On inquiry at the Admiralty, says a British Official Wireless message, it is learned that, contrary /to a German claim that during yesterday's attacks on Portsmouth, H.M.S. Victory was hit and her flag standard blown into the sea, no damage whatever has been suffered by the Victory.
