Heavy Recruiting In Northern Area
Heavy recruiting was experienced throughout Northland yesterday, 42 Europeans and four Maoris registering for service. Recruits were:— Whangarei.—J. E. Thorburn (Parua Bay), E. V. Auld (Whangarei), S. Bradley (Whangarei), J. B. Wilkins (Whangarei), F. Simpson (Whangarei), E. G. Box (Whangarei), R. W. Sullivan (Whangarei), D. M. Taylor (Whangarei), W. Matthews (Maungaturoto), D. C. Stewart (Maungaturoto), K. E. S. McSheen (Maungaturoto), D. H. Maloney (Whangarei), A. F. Metcalfe (Maungaturoto), T. W. Kinghan (Whangarei), C. W. Maori recruits were: —J. A. Davis (Maungaturoto), R. Herewini (Maungaturoto), P. Waata (Purerua), T. Tapua (Purerua). A steady rate of enlistment lias been maintained in the city area during the oast few days. Up to 9 p.m. yesterday 125 men had volunteered for the Second N.Z. Expeditionary Force.
