Secret Session Of N.Z. Parliament May Be Held
[Special to “Northern Advocate ”l WELLINGTON, This Day. A secret session of the New Zealand Parliament, so that there can be the •freest and fullest discussion of the Dominion’s y,-ar effort may be held, according to a statement made today in an interview by the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) . He sexd that if the House expressed a wish for this course the Government would willingly aocodr to the request, and tire session would be held at the earliest possible moment. Present indications ere that there is little possibility cf the National Party agreeing to the Government War Council proposal, as outlined in a letter from the Prime Minister to the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Hamilton). This letter was discussed at a National Party caucus today. According to lobby reports, the Opposition is to press strongly for a National Government and further important conversations will take place between the Opposition and the Government Party. Consideration Today. A memorandum defining the powers of the proposed War Council was received from the Prime Minister by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Hamilton) yesterday. Mr Hamilton stated last night that consideration of this document would be the first business at today’s caucus of Parliamentary members of the National Party.
