Tenders For New Girls' School, Hostel Being Considered
Advice from the Director of Education regarding the new girls’ school and hostel at the Whangarei District High School was received at the monthly meeting of the board of governors last evening. Tenders for the first portion of the new girls’ school and hostel were receiving the consideration of the building co-ordination committee and as soon as the department was in ,a position to do 'so the board would be instructed to proceed with the work, stated the director. The principal (Mr A. R. Ryder) reported that the school roll showed 536 pupils in the senior school and 238 in the intermediate school, compared with 557 and 236 respectively, the previous month. Boarders in the Lupton House num- i bered 37 .and in the Carruth House 71, £ compared with 39 and 75 respectively, | the previous term. ? The principal also reported that the £ attendance, conduct, diligence and | progress of the three McLachlan | Scholarship holders, Wendy Hosking f V.A, Gordon L.'Arvidson VI.A and i lan W.
